Real challenge is encountered in measuring flow of water to be used in injection known as Water for Injection (WFI). Conventional invasive flow meters owing to their inherent design tend to create pockets which promote microbiological growth particularly at low flow velocity, thereby reducing sterility level.
Another challenge in flow measurement of WFI is its electrical conductivity which should be kept below 2.1 μS/ cm at 25 °C & requires continuous monitoring as it is both critical and mandatory in sterile drug production. This poses challenge for flow measurement using electromagnetic flow meters.
